A sustainable development approach<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A PROJECT FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY<\/h4>\n

By encouraging a modal shift from private cars to public transport, and giving priority to soft modes of transport, passengers are encouraged to travel in a more environmentally-friendly way.<\/p>\n

ENERGY-EFFICIENT BUILDING DESIGN ADAPTED TO THE LOCAL CLIMATE<\/h4>\n

To meet current environmental challenges, the project to upgrade the Cagnes-sur-Mer Multimodal Interchange Hub proposes..:<\/p>\n

– bioclimatic buildings that make maximum use of natural light and ventilation, heating and cooling only the spaces required
\n– charging stations for electric vehicles<\/p>\n

– a tree-lined forecourt, providing shade and coolness in summer
\n– adaptation of the project to exceptional climatic events, in particular flooding of the Malvan river
\n– optimum management of rainwater throughout the site (rainwater recovery system under study, consideration given to floor coverings, green spaces on the forecourt)<\/p>\n

To reduce the need for artificial lighting and create bright, pleasant spaces, the use of natural light is favored, notably through the creation of large glazed surfaces.<\/p>\n

To reduce soil sealing, mitigate the effects of urban heat islands and provide a pleasant, peaceful living environment, climate-appropriate landscaping has been created on the forecourt. They are planted with Mediterranean species that require little water.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

USE OF LOCAL MATERIALS<\/h4>\n

Choosing local materials minimizes the ecological impact of transport and promotes the local economy.
\nThis represents a real opportunity for the Alpes-Maritimes region, which has significant quarry material resources and real forestry potential.<\/p>\n

THINKING ABOUT RENEWABLE ENERGIES<\/h4>\n

– Photovoltaic roof on parking lot
\n– Geothermal energy, thanks to the use of thermoactive foundations in the parking lot piles. This solution would meet all the station’s heating and cooling requirements.<\/p>\n

THE CHOICE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN SUSTAINABLE DISTRICT (QDM) APPROACH<\/p>\n

SNCF Gares & Connexions is committed to the “Quartier Durable M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en” approach, supported by the Envirobat association and encouraged in particular by the Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d’Azur Region. The aim of this certification is to encourage the design of urban projects that meet the environmental challenges specific to Mediterranean regions.<\/p>\n
